A collection of the most recent works from these Kansas City artists showcases the progressive art being produced in the heart of the Midwest. Each of these artists utilizes different methods and medium to visually express their interpretation of the world around them. This exhibition features sculptural 3-D pieces, oil painting, mixed media work, prints, and ink works. These artists are both longstandingand newly rostered members of the Todd Weiner Gallery cast.
A large scale painting “Point of No Return” by David Gant anchors the “current” feeling of the exhibition by pieceing together highlights of American culture. Pop culture icons like the Hamburgler and Jaws emerge from the furied motif of “Point of No Return”. Gant’s youthful perspective of these classic characters is evident in the fresh color pallete and painterly brushwork. Gant even inserts himself into this American conversation depicting a painting artists hand in a DaVinciesque way. Each of the artists in “Current Best” at the Todd Weiner Gallery brings his perspective of the everyday happenings of Kansas City.
